Parenting Classes
Our parenting classes are a great way to get extra information outside of our antenatal classes, chat with people who also have young children, and get support.
We offer two parenting classes:
-
Baby and You
-
CPR and Child Health.

The first few weeks with a new baby bring with them so many questions - and this can sometimes challenge your ability to enjoy parenthood!
Our Baby & You course provides timely practical information, in a casual and relaxed and supportive setting, and gives you the opportunity to have all your questions answered...
-
How can I tell when my baby is tired? How can I help them get to sleep?
-
Do I have enough milk? My baby always seems hungry!
-
What support is out there for me?
-
What is "normal" in terms of development, and how can play encourage it?
-
What milestones should my baby be meeting, and when?
-
How do I know if my baby is sick?
-
Where can I get a quiet coffee and feed my baby at the same time?
-
What can I say to my mother in law's "so helpful" advice?
The course is facilitated by Liora Noy, Lactation consultant and Childbirth Educator.
The course runs for 3 weeks, from 9.30am to 11.30am on a Thursday. There is a change table for your baby, morning tea for you, and plenty of room to park your buggy or capsule.

Testimonials:
I found the baby and you classes invaluable. As a first time mum and with no family living nearby, the help and advice I got from the baby and you classes really helped me in those early stages of parenting. The classes were held in such a relaxing environment and I made friends with other mum's that I still catch up with today. I highly recommend the baby and you classes.

Baby & You class was easily the best baby/parenting class that I went to (and we went to lots!). It was relevant, supportive, non-judgmental, and it taught me so much about responding to my baby (especially regarding sleep) and also about the changes we might go through as parents. Almost more importantly, though, it created a sense of safety and a positive atmosphere that I looked forward to every week in those early young baby days.

The four-week Baby and You classes were a perfect, gentle introduction to me getting out of the house with my newborn baby. My baby and I loved the social side of our classes and I valued the information and support we received from the facilitators and the other parents and babies we met there. Huge thanks to Mary and the Wellington South Parents Centre for making us feel so welcome.

Baby and You set me up for my parenting journey. It was a safe place to share, laugh, cry and ask the million and one questions I had as a new mum. I have gained a group of friends to do raw, honest parenting with. I cannot recommend it more (it makes a perfect baby shower gift too).

I would definitely recommend this class to help navigate the first months with your little one. I really enjoyed the company of the other mum's and learning some invaluablable techniques. It was comforting to know I was actually doing a good job and I was able to relaxed a little to enjoy being a new Mum.

I found the Baby & You course wonderful. I looked forward to it every week. I felt so welcome and so comfortable with the hosts and fellow parents. It gave me a chance to connect with other parents and learn about being a new mum. I highly recommend it.

Of all the mum and baby activities and classes we signed up to postpartum this was by far our favourite. Mary and her team are a wealth of knowledge as well a being kind, warm and friendly. Parenting advice, discussion and comforting support in a non-judgemental environment- just what is needed!
Elaine
The Baby and You course was the best and most useful course I did, pre or post-baby, and I did quite a few courses! The instructors, Mary and Bronwyn, were so warm and supportive, and I found the content really practical, relevant and easy to digest as a very new parent. It was a nice opportunity to meet some other mums too. I really recommend Baby and You as a really good, short course to give you confidence in parenting your own way and to ask questions you don't know you have till you meet your baby.
