Antenatal Briefer

Please consider volunteering some of your time to WSPC as an Antenatal Briefer.

As you know, Parents Centre is an organization entirely run by volunteers. We depend on our members to continue providing quality childbirth and parent education services. Some of you may have helped us in the past by coordinating our classes, others may have attended as New Parents and New Dads.

At this very moment we have two Briefer positions to fill - these two fine people do the briefing of our volunteers prior to the class.

These volunteers need to be briefed on the "mysteries of the role" they are fulfilling, at what time to show up, where the class room(s) are located, and in the case of Class Coordinators - what class resources may be required and where these are stored, how the refreshments are setup, what is expected from the coordinator during and after the class, what paperwork should be done. After the class is finished Briefers debrief Class Coordinators, on behalf of the Centre Committee express our truly eternal gratitude and reward them with a $50 voucher.

The job does involves some administration (emails, collect & redistribute paperwork, update spreadsheet) and general coordination with other committee members, namely Volunteers Coordinator, Enrolments, Membership and CBE Convenor.

Briefers do not have to be Committee members though I am told our previous Briefers found it very helpful and interesting. Besides this gives you a discount for your membership fees!

This role is shared between 2 people and has times of busyness and relaxation throughout the year. FYI, WSPC currently runs 18 classes a year.

Current committee members will provide training and detailed notes on what Briefers are supposed to do and what to include in a typical briefing. There will be a formal hand-over arranged from the person doing the job at the moment.

As all other roles we have this one is a chance to engage with people, use your skills, take advantage of opportunities that come your way and most of all enjoy yourself and have some fun.
